Velma Berger – 9/18/07

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick; Velma Berger; Beaver County Times; September 18, 2007.

This is the latest in a series of at least 22 Bush and Iraqi-bashing letters written by Ms. Berger dating back to February 2005.  In one letter, Ms. Berger told us she was proud of John Murtha.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“In response to Tuesday’s letter to the editor ‘Start the clock:’

“The writer said a lot more Americans would like to see a clock ticking down to Bush’s last day in office.

“I couldn’t agree more.  That’s why I have one and carry it on my purse everywhere I go.  I can tell anyone instantly right down to the second his remaining in office.”

[RWC] Seriously, if Ms. Berger’s claim that she carries a President Bush countdown clock in her purse isn’t hyperbole, she really needs help.  Having never been afflicted with either Bush or Clinton derangement syndrome, I have a tough time relating to Ms. Berger’s suffering.

“As I write this letter, he has 496 days, 2 hours and 46 seconds.  I can’t wait to see all zeroes.”

[RWC] With a case of BDS as bad as Ms. Berger’s, I’m not sure “all zeroes” will cure her.

“Bring our troops home now.”

[RWC] It’s not a real Velma Berger letter without “Bring our troops home now.”  Of course, Ms. Berger never tells us what to do afterward.
