Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“In response to Dolores Ward’s Wednesday letter to the editor in which she stated that John Kerry is an embarrassment to the Catholic faith:

“President Bush is an embarrassment to our country. All one has to do is look at the past four years.”

[RWC] I’m sorry, Ms. Betke, you’ll need to do better than the lame “All one has to do is look at the past four years.” Provide specifics and back them up.

“He now supports gay unions and, as I recall in my Catholic teachings, a marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman.

[RWC] President Bush is not a Catholic and he opposes homosexual “marriage.” John Kerry supports homosexual “marriage.” Ms. Betke, what is your point?

“Bush has failed our country and it’s time for a change for a better America.”

[RWC] Again, Ms. Betke, provide specifics and back them up. No one can take you seriously otherwise.

“I’m a Catholic and a Democrat, and I’m voting for John Kerry on Tuesday.”

[RWC] You’ll note Ms. Betke didn’t tell us why she plans to vote for John Kerry. She only made “drive by” accusations of President Bush.
