Dan Britza – 11/3/06

Snatched from the headlines; Dan Britza; Beaver County Times; November 3, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Headlines on Tuesday’s Page B1:

“Santorum: ‘Casey helps terrorists.’

“What’s U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum going to say next?  ‘There are weapons of mass destruction in Wilkes Barre.’”

[RWC] Mr. Britza neglected to tell us the alleged basis for Sen. Santorum’s assertion.  Sen. Santorum alleges as PA Treasurer Mr. Casey has invested state funds in companies that do business with countries that support terrorism.  As a reminder, liberals always told us investing in South Africa was the same as investing in racism.  Have the rules changed?

“Laura Bush: ‘Hart is role model for girls.’

“Does she want all girls to practice being a follower instead of a leader?  U.S. Rep. Melissa Hart has been and still is a follower.  She has never been out in front on any issue.”

[RWC] I don’t know if Ms. Hart is a leader or not, but so what?  Does someone have to be a leader to be a role model?  Using Mr. Britza’s “logic,” good fathers and mothers don’t qualify as role models.

Whether she’s a leader or not, I believe it’s fairly clear Ms. Hart is an accomplished woman.
