Gerald G. Camp – 8/17/17

Economic recovery began with Obama’s presidency; Gerald G. Camp (GGC); Beaver County Times; August 17, 2017.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“When Barack Obama took office, the economy was a shambles.  In the eight years of his presidency, the economy improved to where it is today.  The economy is the continuation of the Obama recovery.

“Donald Trump has nothing to do with it.  Letter writer Rita Gavert should find some other positive about Trump to tout; that will be hard to find.”

[RWC] Ignoring specific activities that can be linked to the economy, like decreasing/increasing tax rates, presidents tend to get too much credit when the economy is good and too much blame when the economy is bad.

GGC didn’t identify any Obama administration actions responsible for “the Obama recovery.”

As I’ve written previously, lefty programs were at the core of the “Great Recession.”

Finally, is it really a recovery when the Federal Reserve feels the need to keep its interest rate at historical lows to avoid killing our economy?
