Will Democrats buy Specter’s move?; Nick Chopiak; Beaver County Times; May 28, 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Once, Arlen Specter was a Democrat.

“When that failed, he changed into a Republican.

“After years as a U.S. senator of making just noise that he was for we, the people, Republicans finally realized his self-serving ways and made it known he would lose in next year’s GOP primary election.

“So, Specter flip-flopped back to being a Democrat.

“Will the Democrats embrace Specter and his self-serving ways (and votes) that Republicans rejected, realizing his years of stonewalling are not in their best interest, or will they send him into retirement and force him to collect his senatorial retirement of $130,000 a year with socialized health care for life and annual pay raises between $4,000 and $5,000 a year?”

[RWC] Mr. Specter doesn’t have “socialized health care for life.”  As I’ve explained before, elected officials and government employees have employer-based healthcare insurance as do most Americans.  The healthcare insurance is part of their compensation package.  In this case it just happens the government is the employer.

I know it’s petty of me, but here’s the real reason for this critique.  If you’re familiar with Mr. Chopiak’s body of work, you know he’s fond of using the word “stonewall.”  This letter makes the fifth time in the eight Chopiak letters I critiqued.  As I noted in a previous review, I believe it’s stonewalling to Mr. Chopiak when he gets a response he doesn’t like.
