Doesn’t anybody care?; Ralph Cilli; Beaver County Times; March 8, 2007.

I’m glad I’m not Mr. Cilli.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The other day while coming home from Midland, I noticed the price of gasoline had gone to $2.49 a gallon.

“There is a sickness going around in our country.  It’s called greed.  The gasoline people are making billions each quarter.  So, all business people are raising prices.  Onions were 39 cents or 49 cents for three pounds.  Now, they’ve jumped to $1.50 for three pounds.

“Every year, fruit jumps up, either because of a dry season or a freeze.  Apples are about 50 cents apiece.  Eggs jumped from 59 cents to $1.10 a dozen.  The cable companies are making so much money, they tried to buy Disney World.  If John Kennedy were alive and in office, he wouldn’t stand for this profiteering.”

[RWC] So, Mr. Cilli believes JFK was a communist?

“They take your sons and daughters to fight the wars.  The government should make the gas people pay for the war, or better yet, make them pay the national debt.”

[RWC] Does Mr. Cilli know the draft hasn’t been in effect for over 30 years?

Why not the people who use gas?  After all, “the gas people” wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for those who use gas.

“If prices don’t come down drastically, we should shut the country down.  We are going down the drain.

“Senior citizens get a raise in Social Security and the insurance companies take it all.  We keep getting poorer every year.  Old people have only television for entertainment, and the price keeps going up.

“Soon, we will have nothing.  The country will have two classes of people, the filthy rich and the poor.”

[RWC] You can tell Mr. Cilli is a faithful – and believing – reader of Times editorials.
