Trump promised us better heatlh [sic] care; Glenn Collins, Sr. (GC); Beaver County Times; July 6, 2017.

The review of a previous GC letter is here.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“President Trump should realize that even if it is naked, the truth must drag with it solid unchangeable facts.  A lie does not carry that burden.  It can change any ‘alternative fact’ to appear truthful.”

[RWC] Just to be clear, I support no legislation that does not repeal Obamacare lock, stock, and barrel.  No exceptions.  I support no legislation that replaces Obamacare.

Please read my paper “Healthcare.”

“There is also a peculiar thing about us.  Sometimes we find it easier to believe a lie than the truth.”

[RWC] It’s true.  For example, GC finds it easier to believe a government-run, taxpayer-funded healthcare monopoly can deliver a better combination of healthcare accessibility, choice, price, privacy, quality, timeliness of treatment, et cetera than a free market.

“Pray for the coal miner who believes relaxing government regulations will restore his job.  It is hard for him to believe the double-edged sword of technology slaughtered his job.  Machines replace labor.  Renewable clean energy replaces demand.

“Where is the ‘better and cheaper’ health care for everyone that Trump promised on the first day of his administration?”

[RWC] This is a good question that should be asked of both President Donald Trump (DT) and Barack Obama (BHO).  Remember when BHO claimed that with Obamacare our premiums would drop, we could keep our existing policies, and we could keep our doctors?  Where was GC then?

Remember BHO’s claim “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it?”  The lie was so bad even the left-leaning PolitiFact had to declare it 2013’s “Lie of the Year.”  When BHO realized he would be caught, he later claimed, “What we said was, you can keep (your plan) if it hasn’t changed since the law passed.”  PolitiFact rated that as a “Pants on Fire!” lie.

“Did he admit creating a national health care plan was a lot more difficult than he thought?”

[RWC] Republicare/Trumpcare will be no more successful and constitutional than Obamacare.  Ignoring the constitutionality issue, plans like these are built based on ideology/politics and that’s a kiss of death.

For example, despite the fact females file more claims in dollars than males, Obamacare requires both sexes pay the same premium.  This means males subsidize female healthcare.  Regarding auto insurance, men pay higher premiums than women because men file more claims in dollars than women.  Aren’t these examples indicative of a war on men?  Where’s the outrage?

When it comes to age, however, it’s okay for insurers to discriminate against older policyholders by forcing them to pay more than younger policyholders.  Why isn’t that called a war on the elderly?

“Trump and the Republicans don’t care if everyone has affordable health care.  They just want to make sure they don’t have to pay for it.”

[RWC] This is akin to the ceaseless lefty claim that Republicans don’t care about clean air and water.

“Under the Affordable Care Act, the upper middle class and the rich, who, unlike Trump, can’t circumvent the tax laws, paid a little bit more in taxes to fund ACA.  It insured millions.  The current Senate bill removes these taxes.”

[RWC] The ACA’s name is itself a lie.  What’s affordable about the unaffordable Affordable Care Act?  Even though I monkeyed with co-pays, deductibles, and so on to cut benefits, and hopefully my premium, my medical insurance premium increased 283% since Obamacare was signed into law in 2010.

What does GC mean by “circumvent the tax laws?”  Is GC accusing DT of tax evasion?  Tax avoidance is fine; tax evasion is illegal.  For example, avoiding taxes via the mortgage deduction is okay, but evading taxes by underreporting income is not.

“The only thing the Trump Republicans want you to know is the ACA was enacted by a black man.  That’s why they constantly call it Obamacare.  It appeals to the white males in his base who feel the federal government has forgotten them.”

[RWC] In his previous letter, GC himself referred to the ACA as Obamacare, twice.  Oops.

“The only thing that can make them angrier is a woman telling them what to do.”

[RWC] In the final two paragraphs, GC gives us the “Republican white guys are misogynists and racists” smear.  I need to update the following, but how does GC explain former U.S. Rep. Allen West (R-FL), Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA), Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC), U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Lynn Swann, Michael Steele, Ken Blackwell, Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, U.S. Rep. candidate Mia Love (R-UT), Gov. Susana Martinez (R-NM), and on and on?
