Peace prize reaction revealed quite a bit; Lonzie Cox, Jr.; Beaver County Times; October 22, 2009.  I am not related to Mr. Cox.

Most of Mr. Cox’s 40+ letters since 2004 are tinged with race.  This letter continues the trend.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“While rejoicing from the Olympic Games snub, the Obama hate groups choked as the president’s Nobel Peace Prize was announced.”

[RWC] If you’re familiar with Mr. Cox’s body of work, you know a “hate group” is any group with whom Mr. Cox disagrees.

“Their leaders, Limbaugh and Beck, and birthers and teabaggers whined loudly.  The Nobel committee must be shocked at the rabid reaction of some Americans.  No one questions our bravery in war, yet we seem fearful, even angry, over a gesture of hope in our president from others in the world.”

[RWC] Note the name-calling.

As you read this letter, you’ll notice Mr. Cox doesn’t tell us what President Obama did to earn the award.  That’s because Mr. Obama did nothing to earn the award and even Obama supporters on the left have made that observation.  It was awarded to Mr. Obama simply as a swipe at George W. Bush, just like the awards to Jimmy Carter (2002) and Al Gore (2007).  Besides, who would want an award presented to terrorist Yasser Arafat (1994) and Mikhail Gorbachev (1990)?  At this point in time, I believe the award is so tainted legitimate winners should decline to accept it.

“We don’t know what peace feels like.  Our Cold War enemies, Russia and China, are watching us waste our peace dividend on stupid war while they prosper.”

[RWC] Red China and Russia are prospering?  They are doing better than when they were completely communist, but they are still Third World countries.

“I also disagree with Obama’s decision to donate all the prize money to charity.  Sharing is fine, but what about his children’s future?”

[RWC] I also disagree with Mr. Obama’s decision to donate all the prize money to charity. If Mr. Obama accepts the prize in person, he should use the prize money to help defray the cost of the trip.

“Yale’s Andrew Hacker once described asking his sociology students how much money they would demand if they suddenly had to become black in America.  They concluded that $50 million would be needed to endure all the indignities — job discrimination, housing bias and unequal opportunity — that racism inflicts on people over a lifetime.”

[RWC] What a load of BS!

From what I can tell, Mr. Hacker was never associated with Yale, either as a student or as an instructor.  According to the New York Review of books, Mr. Hacker “teaches political science at Queens College.”

“Obama should invest most of the prize money for his daughters, who have a long time to live in America.  They will need that money to protect themselves from the teabaggers, the Limbaughs and the Becks.”

[RWC] Does Mr. Cox not know the Obamas are already wealthy?
