Lonzie Cox, Jr. – 7/21/11

Apology not accepted; Lonzie Cox, Jr.; Beaver County Times; July 21, 2011.  I am not related to Mr. Cox.

Most of Mr. Cox’s at least 68 letters since 2004 are tinged with race, and all take leftist positions.  The most recent previous Cox letter I critiqued was “Prematurely back in power.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I won’t accept Rupert Murdoch’s apology for damage his media has done to racial harmony in our country.”

[RWC] That’s fine because Mr. Murdoch made no such apology as far as I know.

“His crimes will be handled by the authorities in England if not here because he rules big American media and promotes Republican politicians.”

[RWC] To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Murdoch hasn’t been charged with any “crimes” here or in England.  I suspect Mr. Murdoch would be surprised to learn “he rules big American media.”  So would ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Beaver County Times, et cetera.  FEC data shows Mr. Murdoch also contributes to Democrat politicians, including then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY).

“For more than a decade, Murdoch has increased racial tensions in America by Fox News exploiting our national birth defects, which collectively include slavery, Reconstruction, lynchings, Jim Crow, discrimination and now mindless teabaggerism.”

[RWC] I thought Ronald Reagan and/or Rush Limbaugh were responsible for all this. <g> My records only go back to mid-2004, but since then it appears Mr. Cox didn’t write one letter mentioning Fox News Channel (FNC) or Rupert Murdoch.  In comparison, during this time Mr. Cox wrote at least eight letters complaining about Mr. Limbaugh and 11 complaining about Mr. Reagan.  In any case, you’ll note Mr. Cox didn’t provide any examples to support his assertion.  Frankly, if anyone “has increased racial tensions in America,” Mr. Cox should get consideration given his kneejerk reaction that anything he doesn’t like (leftist policies and politicians are exempt) is rooted in racism.

As I’ve opined before, I wonder if Mr. Cox’s obsession with “teabaggerism” is an example of projection.

“Before Fox News, America was slowly progressing toward a better society with the stated goal of ‘Liberty and justice for all.’”

[RWC] In 2000, Democrats claimed electing Republicans would result in burning black churches and electing then-Texas-Gov. George W. Bush would encourage people like those who dragged a Texas black man to his death in 1998.  Is Mr. Cox claiming FNC forced Democrats to make those claims?  You’ll note Mr. Cox doesn’t tell us what FNC did to derail his train to “Liberty and justice for all.”

“Supporting that goal was the fact that many of us had well-paid industrial jobs that kept us away from hate groups and the self-pity they encourage among their followers.”

[RWC] Which “hate group” did Mr. Cox join that forced him to refer to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an “Uncle Tom?”  Mr. Cox doesn’t seem to notice his fellow lefties constantly place people into “victim” groups and then pound into their heads they’ve been wronged and deserve reparations.  As I’ve written previously, I suspect you’ll find Mr. Cox’s definition of “hate” is when a person expresses a non-leftist position.  For example, it’s not “hate” to launch a personal attack on Justice Thomas, but it is “hate” to oppose Hillarycare, Obamacare, bailouts, excessive government spending, excessive taxation, et cetera.

“The takedown of Murdoch is welcome.  Go England.  You have earned the right to again be called Great Britain.”

[RWC] Mr. Cox does not seem to know “the authorities in England” – on both the left and right – were allegedly involved in the phone-hacking scandal.

Mr. Cox appears to think Great Britain and England are synonyms.  England (along with Scotland and Wales) is a country on the island of Great Britain.  In any case, what did GB do that it didn’t have the right to be called GB before Mr. Cox gave his approval?
