Diversity in workplace needs to be a priority; Lonzie Cox, Jr. (LC); Beaver County Times; January 5, 2017.  Though my friends have fun at my expense by referring to him as my “Cousin Lonzie,” I am not related to Mr. Cox.

Most of Mr. Cox’s at least 100 letters since 2004 are tinged with race, and all take leftist positions.  The most recent previous Cox letter I critiqued was “President endures ongoing hatred from his critics”  “State Supreme Court needs Woodruff.”  You can find more Cox letters in the archives (2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004).

When it comes to race issues, Mr. Cox is pretty tolerant if you share his leftist ideology.  For example, Mr. Cox had no problem with the late-Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV), a former KKK officer, but referred to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an “Uncle Tom.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The entire Beaver County region should thank attorney Bernie Rabik for his excellent article on the subject of diversity in the workplace.  The question Rabik answered in the article seemed to be posed by a public servant with no intentions of making any effort toward such diversity.”

[RWC] With a title of “Employers responsible for practicing inclusiveness,” it’s easy to see why LC liked the Rabik opinion piece.”

“The question that Rabik responded to exposes the questioners insincerity by declaring that ‘we (his office) have never been able to enact such a policy.’  That’s like the old excuse which suggested that minority job applicants were too hard to find, therefore, no work place integration ever.

“Attorney Rabik has done western Pennsylvania a great favor by commenting on a subject that receives much less coverage than it deserves these days.  So now, at the beginning of the Donald Trump regime, is the time to revisit this topic much more often.”

[RWC] In the “Cure for discrimination” section of his piece, Mr. Rabik wrote, “Diversity in the workplace readily acknowledges what I have recently read: ‘Discrimination is like looking for a white rabbit in the snow: You can’t see it, but you know it has been there because of white tracks.’”  This sounds a lot like the “white privilege” drivel.  In case you don’t know, even if a white person never does a racist thing during his entire life, he’s still a racist because of “white privilege.”

Finally, there is no “Cure for discrimination.”  First, people are people and no set of laws can stop discrimination.  In fact, there’s a good argument that the constant drumbeat of bogus racism accusations can cause racism.  That is, if you’re constantly accused of something you never do, you might as well do what you’re accused of.  Second, as long as we don’t have “loser pays” in our legal system, lawyers will find discrimination.
