‘Wise government’ is an oxymoron; Robin Cox; Beaver County Times; December 16, 2010.

Below is a copy of the letter as I submitted it.  The Times provided the letter’s title; I did not submit one.

It is not surprising Carl Davidson would support self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in his letter “Sanders protects working Americans.”  On one of his websites, Mr. Davidson refers to Karl Marx as a “Role Model” and says he once “tr[ied] to create a new communist party.”

In classic leftyspeak, Mr. Davidson refers to everyone keeping their current tax rates as “class war,” but demanding tax rate increases for only one group apparently is not “class war.”  Do higher-income workers and business owners deserve what they earn less than the rest of us?

Mr. Davidson referred to the “wise government.”  Is this the same “wise government” that can’t balance its budget and currently has us $14 trillion in debt ($45,000 per citizen, $125,000 per taxpayer) and growing?

The more important problem with the “wise government” comment is its implication those of us funding the government though our hard work can’t be trusted to use our paychecks wisely.  That government is “wise” and we are not is a key tenet of leftism, used to justify the transfer of power from the governed to the government and the resultant loss of individual liberty.
