Mildred Czar – 7/30/10

Support and pray for our president; Mildred Czar; Beaver County Times; July 30, 2010.

I’m aware of two previous letters from Ms. Czar.  “Tax hike can be justified” (11/7/06) lobbied for a tax increase if it would keep Beaver County from privatizing its jail operations and “Homosexuality is a sin in God’s eye” (4/17/09) is self-descriptive.  I didn’t critique either letter and neither remains on the Times website.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I agree with Tuesday letter writer Betty Ann Bowser (‘Are Tea Partiers malcontents?’).

“Her advice will reduce divisions existing in our wonderful country.  She stated, ‘Let us support and pray for our president.’

“Remember the two greatest commandments written in the Scriptures: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul.  And love your neighbor as yourself.’

“Because of the basic Christian values upon which our forefathers established our country and their profound effort in forming our governmental democracy, we enjoy the freedom to succeed and to worship and/or meditate as we desire.”

[RWC] Just as I do with all elected officials, I’ll support Mr. Obama when we agree on policy and oppose him when we don’t.

My records go back only to 2005 and they aren’t perfect, but I found no letters from Ms. Czar (or Ms. Bowser) in response to letters that demonized then-President Bush.
