Stop the carnage now; Gilda De Ferrari; Beaver County Times; June 22, 2005.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Seventeen hundred American soldiers have died in Iraq in a war President Bush led us into by lying.”

[RWC] I guess the “Bush lied” lie will never go out of style for liberals.  Ms. De Ferrari also seems to ignore that Congress saw the same intelligence as President Bush and concurred with his assessment.

“His real reason was to control sources of oil.  If the hundreds of billions of dollars spent and being spent on this war had been used to develop alternate sources of energy, these 1,700 Americans would still be alive and 17,000 more would not be maimed for life and we would be on our way to energy independence.”

[RWC] “War for oil” again.  I guess these folks figure if they say it enough we’ll believe it.

I’ll go out on a limb and assume Ms. De Ferrari is a liberal.  In case she missed it, liberals have been the major impediment to expanding our energy sources.  When we want to explore for domestic oil and gas, it’s no.  When we want to increase coal usage, it’s no.  When we want to increase use of nuclear power, it’s no.  Liberals have even advocated tearing down hydroelectric power dams and blocked wind-power farms.

“On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Walter Jones of North Carolina proposed bringing American troops home by October 2006.  That is not soon enough.  This carnage must stop now.”

[RWC] I’d like to know whom Ms. De Ferrari believes is the real enemy.
