Marisa DePaolis – 8/16/06

Politicians should work for us; Marisa DePaolis; Beaver County Times; August 16, 2006.

The only reason I’m commenting on this letter is to point out it is virtually identical to a previous letter by Ms. DePaolis dated July 21, 2006.  The only differences appear to be punctuation.

Just as other authors who bash Sen. Santorum, Ms. DePaolis never tells us why we should vote for Bob Casey, Sen. Santorum’s opponent.  As I’ve stated before, I don’t believe that’s a good sign for Mr. Casey.

Below is today’s letter followed by Ms. DePaolis’ previous submission.

“Voters beware.  U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum is trying to pull out all the stops, just like state Rep. Mike Veon did, by continuously showing up on TV ads and attempting to show a different side of him - though I question that it seriously exists.

“I also resent the fact that, all of a sudden, he is using his Italian heritage and appears to say ‘whatever it takes’ to shine up his image, expecting us to now believe that he is one of the good guys.

“It seems to me when you give some of these politicians too much power, they tend to side with those who have the biggest pockets, forgetting about the little people who put them in office in the first place.

“We little people, in the meantime, are dealing with major issues such as unemployment, health care and people living way below poverty level.  I am sick of guys like Santorum and Veon who continue to use the media, making promises that most likely will not be kept, once they get voted into office.

“Are we going to continue to keep these politicians in office who talk out of both sides of their mouths?  Or are we going to say, ‘Enough is enough!’

“Our country needs leaders who say what they mean, and do what they say - looking out for all of their constituents, not just those who have the money to contribute to their campaigns.”
