Who cares anymore?; Eric DeWitt; Beaver County Times; March 21, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“So who cares about the hundreds of thousands of people that Saddam killed because they didn’t believe in the same things he did.

“Who cares about the women who were raped and killed and the children that were tortured in front of their husbands and fathers because they did not win or play well in the World Cup soccer matches.

“Oh, by the way, who cares about the 2,500 or more lives that were lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

“It has become clear that the people protesting around the world do not.  They are the same people that are the first ones to stand up and say there is an AIDS epidemic in Africa, let’s send money, aid, troops and medical staffing to help.

“Now let me ask them a question.  Are they going to be the same people to stand up and ask for their withdrawal when our people catch the AIDS virus and die trying to help people?

“No, because it is not political enough for them.

“The truth of the matter is that we are the world police.

“Other countries ask for our help and we provide it.

“Maybe therein lies the problem.  Maybe we should pull our military out of all the other countries, disband the military - as the moronic protesters protesting in front of a military recruitment facility in Oakland want - and refuse all requests for aid and military assistance to countries that need it.

“Then what would they complain about?  Oh, that’s right.  We are not proactive enough.

“Here’s one last thought.  While President Bush is making a decision on the war or entertaining a prime minister in the Rose Garden, maybe he should have an intern perform oral sex on him.

“Maybe then the liberals out there will give their approval on what he is trying to accomplish.”

[RWC] Though I would have written it differently, Mr. DeWitt was on message until the penultimate paragraph.  At that point, the letter devolved into the tackiness I expect from Bush bashers and liberals in general.  That excursion pretty much torpedoed the rest of the letter.
