Driven out of my home; Norma Decker; Beaver County Times; April 24, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I am a 73-year-old widow in the same boat as other property owners in our area.  I must sell my house to get out of property taxes, upkeep and other rising costs on everything.

“I could probably go back to work but I believe 32 years is enough, especially when you aren’t in the best of health.  What happened to the Golden Years?”

[RWC] I have a better question.  What happened to planning for the “Golden Years?”  Property taxes and inflation have been around forever so it’s not like they should have been a surprise.  What kind of retirement planning did Ms. Decker do during her alleged 32 years of work?

“Just look around and see how many houses are up for sale around you.”

[RWC] Apparently Ms. Decker believes all homes up for sale are for the same reasons she alleges she must sell her house.
