One candidate stands out; Philip S. Dedig; Beaver County Times; April 23, 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“You may disagree with their political positions, but the three candidates running for president are well qualified.”

[RWC] No, they are not.  You’ll note Mr. Pedig doesn’t tell us what makes them “well qualified.”

“The three senators are intelligent, articulate and experienced professionals.  After careful thought, I have chosen to support Hillary Clinton for president.

“The most important issue in the near term will be the economy.  This woman is sharp as a tack when it come to knowledge of the economy and how it works.”

[RWC] On what basis does Mr. Pedig claim Mrs. Clinton “is sharp as a tack when it come to knowledge of the economy and how it works?”

“The saying goes that a rising tide lifts all ships.  During the Bill Clinton years, all classes — the poor, middle class and wealthy — moved up the economic ladder, and this is a fact.  Hillary Clinton can duplicate this trend.”

[RWC] Six of Mr. Clinton’s eight years Republicans controlled Congress.  How do we know Congress doesn’t deserve some or of all of the credit?  What specific Clinton policies did the deed?

One point Mr. Pedig failed to note is that while Bill Clinton favored free trade, Mrs. Clinton is adamant that she does not.

What exactly has Mrs. Clinton done that leads Mr. Pedig to believe “Hillary Clinton can duplicate this trend?”

“During the current administration, the rich got richer, the poor got poorer and the middle class was economically squeezed.  This situation has to be reversed.”

[RWC] This is just talking point BS.  You’ll note Mr. Pedig provided no data to support his assertion.

“The economy will be the largest issue in the next couple of years.  Clinton has the best grasp of economic issues, and that is why I support her for president.”

[RWC] On what basis does Mr. Pedig claim Mrs. “Clinton has the best grasp of economic issues?”
