Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I would like to say ‘ha, ha’ to the press.  It pushed for release of Sara [sic] Palin’s e-mails (all 20,000-plus) and found nothing.”

[RWC] Actually, the press found what it knew all along.  Mrs. Palin is not the person the media has portrayed her to be.

“At the same time, we have a president who we don’t even have a copy of his grade school transcripts, let alone know where he attended school.

“P.S.: Although I am only a private citizen, I can (and would) provide original copies of my grade school report cards (some not quite so good) since the second grade, my high school transcripts (notarized), my college transcripts (notarized), my DD-214 from the Air Force and my birth certificate.”

[RWC] I don’t care about Mr. Obama’s records.  The only reason for this “critique” is to note the media’s hounding of Mrs. Palin is another example of the media’s selective interest in records.  Bush Derangement Syndrome has been replaced by Palin Derangement Syndrome.

During his failed run for the Democrat nomination for President in 2003, Howard Dean (D-VT) said “I’ll unseal mine [records as VT governor] if he [then-President George W. Bush] will unseal all of his” records as governor of Texas.  Mr. Dean didn’t know Mr. Bush’s records were already “unsealed” and “available for viewing.”  As far as I can tell, Mr. Dean’s records as Vermont governor remain sealed and I don’t see the press making a stink.

The media’s lack of interest in Mr. Obama’s scholastic record may be a result of being burned when they demanded Mr. Bush’s scholastic record during the 2004 campaign.  Convinced Sen. John Kerry-Heinz (D-MA) was a genius and Mr. Bush a dunce, the media was burned when they found Mr. Bush’s GPA was slightly higher than Mr. Kerry’s, though neither man got scorching grades at Yale.  The other “intelligence” smack-down came when the media learned Mr. Bush outscored Mr. Kerry on intelligence tests they took when they served while in the military.

While the media demanded Mr. Bush release his entire military record and he did, the media made no such demand of Mr. Kerry.  Mr. Kerry did not authorize release of his records until May 2005, well after the 2004 election.

When all the published Bush military service documents didn’t produce the Holy Grail, Dan Rather and CBS did a “60 Minutes II” story using forged documents.
