Good reasons to vote Nov. 2; Elizabeth Asche Douglas; Beaver County Times; September 29, 2010.

Ms. Douglas is a local artist.  In a previous letter, Ms. Douglas tried to defend Jeremiah Wright.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“‘Aint Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round,’ a 19th century freedom song, became an anthem of the 20th century civil rights movement.

“We need to let it inspire us anew for the elections of 2010.  The 2008 breakthrough was just a beginning and will come to nothing if we don’t get out a huge vote for candidates who will ‘keep on keepin’ on’ in the fight for changes that will fulfill America’s promise for the working and middle classes of our nation.”

[RWC] Ms. Douglas appears to be concerned Obama supporters won’t come out to vote this year. You’ll note Ms. Douglas doesn’t tell us what the changes are that she wants.

Local lefties seem to like the “keep on keepin’ on” slogan.  You may recall local self-described Marxist Carl Davidson uses “Keep On Keepin’ On …” as the name of his blog.

“Urge every adult you know to register and vote Nov. 2.”

[RWC] I agree, as long as they are informed with the truth.
