No-show Republicans; Nikola (Nick) Drobac; Beaver County Times; August 15, 2004.

Another Republican-bashing letter by Mr. Drobac.  Man, he must be hard up for topics.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“On July 28, Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum was supposed to report for jury duty in Allegheny County.

“He was a no-show.”

[RWC] According to his office, Sen. Santorum did not receive his summons.  The county court administrator confirmed Santorum had responded to previous summonses since he became a senator.1  Given his previous response to jury summonses, I have no reason to doubt Santorum’s explanation.

“It is still questionable as to whether or not George W. Bush reported for military service in Alabama.”

[RWC] President Bush made all his records public and people who served with him in Alabama have come forward.  Face it, folks like Mr. Drobac could see a notarized film of Walter Cronkite interviewing then Lieutenant Bush in Alabama during the early 1970s and they would still hold to their fantasy.

“Got to love those Republicans.  When it comes time for them to serve, they’re a no show.”

[RWC] I don’t know if Mr. Drobac supports John Kerry or not, but if he does he should remember the saying about people living in glass houses should not throw rocks.

When he was on the Senate Intelligence Committee, John Kerry missed 38 of 49 public hearings.  Senator John Edwards has missed four of eight public hearings by the same committee.  During the 108th Congress, Kerry’s attendance record was 36%.
