Refund Social Security taxes; Nikola (Nick) Drobac; Beaver County Times; July 10, 2005.

This is the 20th anti-Bush and/or anti-Republican rant by Mr. Drobac since July 1, 2004.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“William A. Alexander of Harmony Township wrote a great letter to the editor (‘Form letter faulted,’ Sunday) concerning Social Security.

“In response to his letter, I would like to add the following.

“During the 2000 presidential elections, George W. Bush made his argument for federal income tax cuts.  Over and over again, Bush told the American people that he wanted to return to Americans what was rightfully theirs in the form of a tax cut.

“During the 2004 presidential elections, Bush made his argument for making the tax cuts permanent.

“Supposedly, Social Security is a pay-as-you-go system.  Since the 1980s, the federal government has been collecting more in Social Security taxes than it has been paying out.  It will continue to do so until the year 2016.”

[RWC] Socialist Security taxes have exceeded benefits paid for most of nearly 70 years.

“In a statement before the Republican National Committee, Bush stated that there was no Social Security lock box.  Bush stated that he and the rest of our elected officials are spending the excess Social Security tax dollars.”

[RWC] Just as all presidents and Congresses since 1937.  There never was a Socialist Security “lockbox” or “trust fund.”  From the day of Socialist Security’s inception, all SS annual tax surpluses are to be deposited into the general fund in exchange for Treasury bonds.  In other words, today’s SS surplus is really a collection of ledger entries or “IOUs.”

“Bush actually told the RNC members not to look for the money because it is gone.”

[RWC] President Bush – and Democrats and Republicans before him – told everyone the money was spent.  It’s been spent every year since Socialist Security collected its first taxes in 1937.

“If Americans have been paying more in Social Security taxes than what is needed, then why hasn’t the federal government either increased Social Security benefits for present-day retirees or refunded that amount of Social Security taxes that we have been overpaying?”

[RWC] Congress has increased Socialist Security benefits at various times.  That’s one of the problems, though the core problem is that Socialist Security is a Ponzi scheme.

“Bush has said a lot about what he wants to see happen whenever Social Security expenses exceed Social Security tax revenues.

“However, Bush has said nothing about returning to the people what is rightfully ours, a Social Security tax refund.”

[RWC] Mr. Drobac assumes we have a short memory.  As recently as July 8, 2004, Mr. Drobac wrote a letter (“Big government Republicans”) opposing tax cuts.  Now, however, he seems to support a tax cut in the form of a Socialist Security tax refund.

Since we know both income and Socialist Security taxes go into the same pot, does it make a difference if the tax refund comes in the form of income or SS tax cuts?
