No more GOP incompetence; Thomas M. Finch; Beaver County Times; March 22, 2009.

Mr. Finch’s letters never disappoint.  As usual, his letter is little more than a string of leftist talking points.  It’s at least the 23rd anti-Bush and/or anti-Republican letter from Mr. Finch since December 2004.  Here is one example.  I wish he could get a regular column in the Times.  I also wish he could get at least five minutes per day on a local radio and/or TV station.

The most recent previous letter I critiqued from Mr. Finch was entitled “No more GOP incompetence.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“You’ve heard the saying, ‘People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.’”

[RWC] Yes, I’ve used it in my critiques of some of Mr. Finch’s letters (here, here, and here).

“It’s ironic that the same GOP, neo-con crowd — who steadfastly believed and supported all the lies and corruption of the Bush administration and overlooked all of his questionable personnel choices and policies — feels justified in criticizing President Barack Obama’s every move.”

[RWC] As I’ve written before, Mr. Finch likes to use the term “neo-con,” but he never tells us what his definition is.  I suspect Mr. Finch just heard it somewhere and likes the sound.

As is common practice in his letters, note Mr. Finch didn’t detail “all the lies and corruption of the Bush administration and … all of his questionable personnel choices and policies.”  It’s simply easier to make drive-by accusations.

“Considering the dire circumstances this administration faces, mistakes have been and will be made.  But at least he’s trying to clean up the mess that Bush left him.

“Politics, being the dirty business that it is, thrives on each representative trying to get tax dollars for projects in his local district.

“Earmarks are how that’s done.  The only time people complain is when money flows into someone else’s district.

“Nobody likes it, but we’re stuck with it.”

[RWC] Yes, you read the above right.  Mr. Finch defended earmarks/pork-barrel spending.

“Rush Limbaugh is a master at telling lies to keep his legions of GOP neo-cons goose-stepping to his tune.”

[RWC] You’ll note Mr. Finch didn’t describe the alleged “lies.”

This comment tends to support my belief that Mr. Finch doesn’t know what a neo-con is.  Most so-called neo-cons (“conservatives” who used to be leftists) are on the left edge of the right and don’t like Mr. Limbaugh.

“But consider this: the Democratic National Committee is constructing a billboard in Limbaugh’s hometown — where he can’t miss it — that says, ‘America didn’t vote for a Rush to failure.’  That says it all.”

[RWC] Is Mr. Finch serious?  Mr. Limbaugh will love this!

“Let’s give Obama a chance before hurling stones.  He can’t do worse than the GOP or windbag Limbaugh.”

[RWC] Does anyone want to bet Mr. Finch gave then-President Bush a chance?

Finally, I get a kick out of how exorcised lefties like Mr. Finch are about Rush Limbaugh.  Not that Mr. Limbaugh needs the help, but all the attention given to him by the left simply improves his stature.  Remember what happened when Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) tried to smear Mr. Limbaugh?  I wonder how many lefties who bash Mr. Limbaugh actually listen to the show.  I suspect most of them simply pick up talking points from leftie sources.

Finally, as for calling Mr. Limbaugh a “windbag,” perhaps Mr. Finch should reread the first sentence of his letter.
