NCLB a disaster for children; Brandon Getz; Beaver County Times; October 19, 2004.

I’m not going to defend the No Child Left Behind Act because I believe government should have little involvement in education.  All I will do is point out what I see to be common themes when the government education complex bashes the NCLBA.

As most other NCLBA bashers, Mr. Getz merely bashes the NCLBA without acknowledging there is a problem with government education and without providing alternatives for improving K-12 results.  Another theme Mr. Getz includes is that setting standards and requiring results is an “offensive and politically-driven attack on the America’s public school system.”

Mr. Getz fails to note schools don’t need to follow the NCLBA if they don’t accept federal taxpayer dollars.

Mr. Getz will make a fine addition to the AFT or NEA labor unions.  They may even want him to work directly for teacher labor unions and forego a teaching career.
