It should be 12 years and out; Joseph W. Hall; Beaver County Times; April 30, 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter just shows the arrogance of many politicians that the elections are more about them than our country or Constitution.

“There are more than 10 million people who live in Pennsylvania, but only Specter is capable of being the senator.

“The same goes for many states, such as West Virginia (Robert Byrd), Massachusetts (Ted Kennedy), Arizona (John McCain) and many more.  The arrogance that winning an election and being a chairman of a committee are more important than making good decisions.

“They all need to get on with their lives.  We need to have new people constantly making up both our Senate and House.  Certainly, 12 years are enough of anyone making decisions that apply to all of us.

“Let’s vote them all out regardless of party.  We need checks and balances.”

[RWC] The problem with Mr. Hall’s understandable frustration is you throw out the baby with the bath water.  While I believe ethical representatives are in the minority, I also believe blindly knocking out all incumbents is counterproductive.  When we continue to elect bad representatives, we have only ourselves to blame.
