Bush isn’t above the law; Frank Halling; Beaver County Times; January 18, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“No president is above the law.  He needs to do the right thing, not do work-arounds when there is no reason for work-arounds.”

[RWC] Does anyone want to bet Mr. Halling was one of the people crying that President Bush didn’t “connect the dots” before 9/11?

“Why has our president decided to interpret the law himself and written a blank check when he only has approval of less than 40 percent of the people?  Bush must uphold the law and let the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act do its job.”

[RWC] While Mr. Halling was quoting polls, he forgot the polls that show the majority of the people believe the program Mr. Halling doesn’t like is the right thing to do.  Mr. Halling also forgot to note Congressional leaders of both parties knew of the program from the beginning and were briefed on a regular basis.  If anything illegal were going on, why didn’t these representatives and senators take action?
