Edward J. Hum – 10/7/04This page was last updated on October 7, 2004. Tough luck, indeed; Edward J. Hum; Beaver County Times; October 7, 2004. Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter. “As a Republican who thinks President Bush is about the dumbest president in the last 212 years, I enjoyed the ‘Tough luck’ editorial on Sunday that quoted U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum’s (he’s another one) remark about the feds not having money for flood victims but $200 billion for Iraq and tax cuts for well-off people. “You’re right. ‘Tough luck; mission accomplished.’” [RWC] Does anyone believe Mr. Hum is really a Republican? Here are three reasons I have doubts. First, his previous letter in July was also an anti-Bush screed. Second, calling the opposition dumb tends to be a liberal staple. Third, another recent liberal tactic is for a person to pose as a Republican then claim President Bush is so bad that even Republicans can’t support him. © 2004 Robert W. Cox, all rights reserved. |
