Distractions won’t work; Edward J. Hum; Beaver County Times; July 28, 2006.

Wow, it’s now two letters in a row in which Mr. Hum forgot to include his obligatory attempt to convince us he’s a Republican!

Mr. Hum led off his letter from September 2005 with, “Fellow Republicans, this is my last letter about George W. Bush.”  I responded with, “Anyone taking bets?”  This is Mr. Hum’s fifth anti-Bush letter since his September promise.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Radio news: 3,000 killed in Iraq each month (100 a day).”

[RWC] Mr. Hum can divide 3,000 by 30.  Good for him!

“ABC news report: 350 garbage collectors killed last year from bombs hidden in garbage.

“Boy, 100-degree heat with uncollected garbage and bombs.  I am sure President Bush is glad that Iraq is now on the back pages and headlines are about important constitutional amendments against flag burning and gay marriage.”

[RWC] Which newspapers does Mr. Hum read?  Doesn’t he know Israel’s merciless attack on the innocents of Lebanon is in the headlines and President Bush is to blame for that as well?  I guess Mr. Hum is behind the curve a bit. <g>

“Still, we don’t want to forget all about Iraq.  God bless America.”
