Out of harm’s way; Edward J. Hum; Beaver County Times; February 15, 2007.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Everyone agrees that if we pull out of Iraq, it will be a catastrophe.  Haven’t I heard that when everybody agrees, somebody may be wrong?”

[RWC] Wow, this is the second letter in a row without the usual “fellow Republicans” leadoff! <g>

“If we pull our troops out of harm’s way, they will still be a force in the area.  Sunnis and Shiites must then settle their differences themselves.”

[RWC] “[T]hey will still be a force in the area?”  Exactly which Middle East country would volunteer to be a base for over 100,000 airmen, Marines, sailors, and soldiers?  Or does Mr. Hum agree with John Murtha that Okinawa – over 5,000 miles away “as the crow flies” – is “in the area?”

So, Mr. Hum is assuring us terrorists won’t take over Iraq as they did in Afghanistan and almost did in Somalia?

What does Mr. Hum propose we do if Iraq becomes an updated version of the former Afghanistan, only this time with oil money?
