Wrong place, wrong time; Edward J. Hum; Beaver County Times; April 25, 2007.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I don’t often agree with President Bush, but he was right when he said at Virginia Tech that these were innocent students who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“So are the average of three soldiers and 87 civilians who are killed in Iraq each day.  They just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, day after day.”

[RWC] Maybe it’s just me, but how are students murdered in a classroom the same as soldiers who volunteer to defend this country?

Mr. Hum just called our military innocent victims, but I’ve never met a soldier who considered himself to be a potential victim.  Knowing they will likely be in harm’s way, these brave men and women volunteer to defend us, but Mr. Hum sees only victims.  That tells us much of what we need to know about Mr. Hum.
