Investigate other things; Jack Jones; Beaver County Times; January 3, 2006.

This letter is pretty much a mindless rant.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“State Rep. Mike Veon needs to wake up and get real.”

[RWC] Good luck on that.

“The residents of Beaver County don’t give a stinking hoot about who owns a casino and racetrack.  We just want property tax relief.”

[RWC] When Mr. Jones writes, “We just want property tax relief,” I suspect he means, “tax someone other than me.”  If Mr. Jones’ income tax bill goes up by the same amount his property tax drops, he’ll be clamoring for “income tax relief.”

“Why don’t he and his corrupt cronies spend time and money in a more appropriate manner?

“If he wants to investigate something, he could start with the oil and natural gas companies.

“Look around.  People are losing their homes and living without food because these thieving companies are taking all of their money, just like the lawmakers did.”

[RWC] Oh man, the evil oil & gas company rant!

“Most of our people are without health insurance and the thieves at the medical facilities gouge them even more.”

[RWC] Is everyone a thief Mr. Jones?  What business are you in?

Regarding “Most of our people are without health insurance,” the over inflated number everyone throws around is about 43,000,000.  When I was learned my cipherin’, 14% wasn’t “most of our people.”  For the record, only about 8,000,000 people don’t have healthcare insurance and we don’t know how many of these people simply choose not to purchase insurance.  3% is even less “most” than 14%. <g>

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the great change to the Medicare system for prescriptions.

“These prescription plans that our elderly must buy will be good for people who don’t need any medicine.

“If they do need medicine, they must pay a deductible and then worry about what will happen to them when they hit the maximum limit.”

[RWC] Heaven forbid that someone must pay for a tiny fraction of their prescription drug usage.

“For help with all of this, people must turn to public assistance, except public assistance has done very good in their accounting department.  They have the income guidelines just out of reach so the vast majority of needy people can’t receive any help.  These employees are not there to help any one; their job is to prevent people from receiving assistance.”

[RWC] If “the vast majority of needy people can’t receive any [government] help,” where have the trillions of dollars gone that were spent on the “war on poverty?”

“Why doesn’t Veon investigate them?  The answer is clear.  He doesn’t have any of these hardships because we pay for everything he has.

“By the way, I don’t believe those TV commercials of his one stinking bit.  You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.  He has been fooling them for quite a long time.”

[RWC] Mr. Jones apparently believes taxpayers should pay for his needs/wants.  From what I can tell, he and Mr. Veon are on the same page except for the paygrab and Mr. Veon’s obsession with gambling.
