Bush still not up to job; Willie King; Beaver County Times; April 7, 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“In response to the April 1 letter to the editor ‘Clinton can’t handle the job:’

“Would you agree that the man who has the job now never was and still is not right for the job?”

[RWC] Since I’m a conservative first, President Bush isn’t exactly my idea of a perfect president.  That said, Mr. Bush certainly is better than the alternatives of Al Gore, John Kerry, and all the other leftist candidates since 2000.

“After four years, what has this president and his whole administration done for the country?  Involving us in a war that can’t be justified?”

[RWC] “After four years?”  Mr. King is aware President Bush has been in office just over seven years, right?  Regarding the Iraq War, I assume Mr. King remembers Congress approved the Iraq War Resolution, including present and former presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and John Kerry.

“Health care was mentioned in the letter.  The Medicare premium hike was the highest ever.”

[RWC] Medicare premiums are determined by law.  The President doesn’t set the premiums.

“Thank God his time in office is drawing to a close.  However, the legacy he leaves should not be sugarcoated to make him look like something he certainly isn’t or will be in the history of this country.”

[RWC] No one’s record should be sugarcoated.  At the same time, neither should a person’s record be twisted by partisanship.
