The truth be told; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; January 10, 2007.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s minimum of 17 letters over the last two+ years have been Republican-bashing exercises.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“And the truth shall set you free.”

[RWC] If you’ve read Mr. Kislock’s letters, you have to get a chuckle out of him mentioning truth.

“In today’s America, the truth is considered enemy propaganda by the neo-conservative movement.”

[RWC] Would someone explain to me what “the neo-conservative movement” is?

“As not to diminish G.W. Bush’s brilliance in the invasion, occupation and exploitation of Iraq, I would suggest the following:

“# The U.S. dead of the Iraq war should be buried at sea at least 300 miles off shore and in a free fire zone with no pictures and no stories of the dead to make G.W. Bush look bad.

“# The wounded should be shipped off to one of the many CIA’s overseas facilities, out of sight and out of G.W. Bush’s mind.

“If only we could make the Iraqi people happy with two to four hours of electricity.  Oh, well!  The hours waiting in line for gasoline.  Tough.  Not enough cooking oil.  Blame Saddam.”

[RWC] As usual, Mr. Kislock never lets facts get in the way of a rant.

Regarding electricity, USAID reports pre-war generation levels (3,958 MW) were reached by October 2003 and hit a peak of 4,584 MW during July 2004.  In total, we’ve added 1,292 MW of capacity.  Iraq never had anywhere near sufficient generating capacity.

Regarding oil production, pre-war production was about 2 MBPD.  According to the US State Department, production for the last several months has averaged about 2.2 MBPD.  As electricity generation, Iraq never had enough capacity to turn crude oil into gasoline.  That’s even true for Iran.

“It’s not the Iraq war, according to those who know.  It’s the American liberal press reporting on the Iraq war.”

[RWC] If Mr. Kislock didn’t get his bogus info from “the American liberal press reporting on the Iraq war,” where did he get it?

While many of us recognize the slanted reporting from most of the press, none of us are wearing rose-colored glasses.  We know it’s ugly over there.  What we object to is the lack of reporting regarding the progress made.

“G.W. Bush has a solution for this problem.  It’s called the Military Commissions Act.

“Just have him declare members of the press as enemy combatants and the Iraq war is over over here.”

[RWC] This is the second time Mr. Kislock has tried to spread hogwash about the MCA.

“Long live the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  No signing statement can make them invalid.”

[RWC] True, but liberal judges who believe as Mr. Kislock can.
