Constitution has been betrayed; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; July 13, 2008.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 30+ letters over the last four years have been Republican-bashing exercises.  This letter is an exception to the rule.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“Our Constitution was assassinated by our elected Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire.”

[RWC] You may recall that in past letters Mr. Kislock referred to Messrs. Altmire and Casey as clones of Melissa Hart (R) and Rick Santorum (R).  Apparently Messrs. Altmire and Casey don’t lean far enough to the left for Mr. Kislock despite having Americans for Democratic Action liberal quotients of 95% and 100%, respectively.

“Pennsylvanians cannot have any pride in our elected representatives stabbing the founding fathers and their grand document in the back by approving the new foreign surveillance law.

“Our founding fathers brought forth the greatest document the world had ever seen.  They fought Great Britain, the superpower of the day.  Many of the signers suffered greatly, lost their lives, their families and their fortunes, and Wednesday Casey walked into Senate chambers and put his knife into the back of the founding fathers.  He follows Altmire’s lead.”

[RWC] Mr. Kislock claims Mr. Casey followed Mr. “Altmire’s lead,” but Mr. Casey also voted for the FISA updates back in February when the bill went through the Senate the first time.

I wonder why Mr. Kislock failed to mention Barack Obama (D) also voted for the bill and John McCain (R) missed the vote.

“Our Constitution is not the document we had in 2000, thanks to Democrats like Casey and Altmire.  They must think we do not need all the articles and amendment [sic] in these wonderful documents.

“FISA is but one of the ways these representative have taken these words “We, the People of the United States, in order [sic] to form a more perfect union [sic], establish justice [sic], insure domestic tranquility sic], provide for the common defense [sic], promote the general welfare [sic], and to secure the blessings [sic] of liberty [sic] to ourselves and our posterity [sic], do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America” and put them on the trash heap of history.

“These words must really upset Casey and Altmire.  Is that why they voted the way they did?

“We must send people to Washington who have read and understand what was in the Constitution and replace word by word what Bush, Casey and Altmire deleted.”

[RWC] After reading Mr. Kislock’s approximately 250 words, do you know what he was complaining about?  No, neither do I.  It was the same with Mr. Kislock’s letter of February 15, 2008.

Mr. Kislock has guts talking about people “who have read and understand what was in the Constitution.”  Read my critique of his letter “Read the Constitution” of May 14, 2008 to see what I mean.
