Don’t repress rights during summit; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; September 4, 2009.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 50+ letters over the last five years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Mr. Kislock has been a busy writer; this is his 11th letter this year.  If the Times follows its policy, Mr. Kislock has one more letter left for 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the letter.

“The G-20 Summit will be held in Repressiveburgh, Pennsylvania.”

[RWC] You’ll find Mr. Kislock fails to provide any specifics in this rant.

“I’m sure Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will cover the dilapidated buildings with the Constitution and Bill of Rights since these documents mean nothing to his dishonor.

“The right to assemble in Repressiveburgh is secondary to the imposition of a police state for our foreign visitors.  Funny how many of our visitors have the right to assemble in their countries and the oldest democracy does not.”

[RWC] I know I’m being picky, but the U.S. is a representative republic, not a democracy.

“His dishonor, Mayor Ravenstahl, will use his 4,000 member police force to stifle any expression of free speech.  But this is Repressiveburgh, USA.

“Western Pennsylvania had a proud history in the fight for independence.  Now, for the G-20 summit, Pittsburgh will be known as the city that legislated the death knell for our constitutional rights.

“Welcome to Repressiveburgh, USA.”

[RWC] Given his letters since Barack Obama’s election, I’m beginning to rethink my assessment of Mr. Kislock.  Though I still believe he’s a died-in-the-wool lefty, Mr. Kislock may also be one of those people who just likes to rant.
