Where’s the change we were promised?; Stephen F. Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; June 20, 2010.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 53+ letters over the last six years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Blue.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The losers are those of us who believed in change.”

[RWC] No kidding.  Yes, that was a cheap shot.

“Today, we who believed that change could really happen are saddled with President Barack Obama, who is riding us down a path of war(s), corporate subservience and a Gulf of Mexico full of BP-spilled oil.  After a year-and-half on the job, nothing has changed.

“Of all the promises Obama made during his campaign, name one he has fulfilled.”

[RWC] Mr. Kislock was defending Mr. Obama less than two months ago.  What has changed since then?

“Have you wondered why former Vice President Dick Cheney is no longer blasting the president?  Because Obama is carrying out the policies of the Bush/Cheney administration.”

[RWC] When did Mr. Cheney stop criticizing Mr. Obama’s leftist policies?

“I believe the Obama setup was a corporate/banking-run operation.  Get a new face and call him a Democrat.  With his speaking abilities to say what the people want to hear, it’s money in the bank.”

[RWC] “Get a new face and call him a Democrat?”  Please don’t tell me Mr. Kislock is going to claim Mr. Obama is a Republican plant.  Mr. Obama has been a leftist his entire adult life.  I guess Mr. Kislock assumes readers don’t know Mr. Obama’s history.

If “the Obama setup was a corporate/banking-run operation,” perhaps Mr. Kislock can explain the nonstop business bashing by the Obama administration.

“Sincerity or lying?  Tell the lie enough and it becomes the truth.  Believe in change and you will in the end get it.”

[RWC] Belief can be a nice thing, but it’s meaningless without action.  What actions did Mr. Kislock undertake to get the “change” (more and more leftist policies) he wanted?

“With blue-dog Obama in the White House and the House full of blue-dog Democrats, the people are sure to get bitten by many fleas.”

[RWC] Though it’s mostly a myth, so-called “blue-dog Democrats” are supposed to be fiscally conservative.  What exactly has Mr. Obama done that could be remotely called fiscally conservative?  Mr. Obama (with the help of congressional Democrats) is deficit spending and increasing our debt like no other president in history.

“Next time someone says believe in change, cover your rear end.”

[RWC] I wonder if this scathing letter will generate charges of racism.  After all, criticism of Mr. Obama’s policies by the right is always met with charges of racism by the left, including Mr. Kislock.  I won’t hold my breath waiting for Lonzie Cox to write a letter accusing his pal Mr. Kislock of racism.
