Guns do kill; Stephen F. “The Onion” Kislock, III; Beaver County Times; December 12, 2012.

Most of Mr. Kislock’s 68+ letters over the last eight years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County RedsPlease follow this link to learn more about Beaver County Reds.  You may also remember Mr. Kislock appears to believe “The Onion” is a real news source.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The NRA and its minions have another notch to put on the handle of their sacred handguns.”

[RWC] Mr. Kislock has a burr under his saddle regarding the NRA.  A related piece is my critique of “Time for talking is over, gun control now.”

“Society is left to pick up the pieces of shattered lives of the victim and the shooter.

“Can we recognize what is happening today, with all the weapons in society, and what the founders of the NRA envisioned?”

[RWC] Ignoring that whole Second Amendment thing for a second, perhaps Mr. Kislock can show us an example of where making handguns illegal eliminated - or even made a dent in - handgun crime?  I’m sure Chicago and Washington, DC, must be free of handgun crime, right?

“The killings continue, and Wayne LaPierre and his National Rifle Association cradle their weapons and say it’s OK.  The saying of the NRA, ‘guns don’t kill,’ is wrong!”

[RWC] Note the demonization.  Support the Second Amendment and you must think “it’s OK” for people to commit murder.

“The Founding Fathers must be turning over in their graves thinking what have we wrought on society with this Second Amendment.”

[RWC] As a reminder, the anti-gun crowd (primarily leftists) wants us to believe it’s primarily about hunting, personal self-defense, et cetera.  Wrong.  The Second Amendment is about “We the People” being able to defend ourselves from our government should the need arise.  You can find more about this in the aforementioned critique of “Time for talking is over, gun control now.”

Also, Mr. Kislock gives not one hoot about the Founding Fathers.  Mr. Kislock misrepresents the FFs in his war on deity-based religion.
