Stephen F. Kislock, III – 8/9/17

Our vacationer in chief; Stephen F. “The Onion” Kislock, III (SFK); Beaver County Times; August 9, 2017.

Most of SFK’s 80+ letters over the last 14 years have been Republican-bashing exercises, though he sometimes goes after Democrats for his pet causes.  Sometime during 2009 Mr. Kislock became an in-house commentator for Beaver County Reds, though it’s been some time since he’s written there.  Please follow this link to learn more about Beaver County Reds.  You may also remember SFK appears to believe “The Onion” is a real news source.  SFK went on hiatus between June 2013 and July 2014.  The last SFK letter I reviewed was entitled “Putin will help Trump reshape the Constitution.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Our vacationer in chief, Donald Trump, started a 17-day vacation away from that dump of a White House.”

[RWC] In 2009 when someone criticized Mr. Obama for his time outside of Washington, DC, I wrote the following: “As I’ve written about other presidents, the President of the United States is never really out of the office.  A chunk of the White House staff travels with the President and Air Force One is equipped with enough communications capability so the President can conduct business while he travels.  Using former President George W. Bush as an example, even when he was on ‘vacation’ at his home in Crawford, TX, he continued to conduct/receive daily meetings/briefings from his traveling staff as well as members of his administration who remained in Washington.”

“1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is the address of the most-famous house in the world, and it’s a dump of a place, so say’s the Donald.”

[RWC] SFK failed to mention the White House is undergoing a $3.4 million renovation.  That’s why President Trump (DT) is working from one of his New Jersey properties.  The biggest part of the renovation is the HVAC system, approved by the Obama administration.

As for the claim DT referred to the White House as a “dump,” who knows?  To date it’s an unsubstantiated claim by a golf reporter.  DT says he didn’t call the White House a dump and the reporter has identified neither his source nor the members of the group to whom DT allegedly made the comment.
