Pete McKenzie – 5/21/06

For balance, watch Fox News; Pete McKenzie; Beaver County Times; May 21, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Whenever I read a letter like the one Ian S. Thompson wrote on Tuesday (‘Trashing the Constitution’), I wonder if people can really be this gullible.

“Do people such as Ian sit around and listen to half of the story and actually believe it as the whole truth.”

[RWC] Mr. McKenzie doesn’t seem to understand that folks like Mr. Thompson seem to believe there is only one side to a story, the socialist and/or anti-Bush side.  Any story that doesn’t advocate for the current socialist and/or anti-Bush position is treated as heresy and is thus unworthy of consideration.

“I am so sick of people calling the president a liar without a shred of evidence.

“If people like Thompson really think the Bush administration is trashing the Constitution, they must tune out the world except for ABC, CBS and NBC.  I believe this president is one that believes in the Constitution as written, and not as interpreted by organizations such as the ACLU.

“Now, the administration’s abuse of power hit a new low, according to Thompson, by assembling the largest database in the world.

“He, like all the major media outlets, wants everyone to believe that this latest leak of secret activity is the government listening into everyone’s phone conversation.

“They don’t want people to know that this data base does not have names or addresses of these phone numbers.  It is only of the phone numbers.

“I would hope that when they find a phone number in a computer in Iraq that they would be able to figure out who has been conversing with that person, no matter where they are located.

“And if they find someone from Beaver Falls is calling that number, I am glad that they can then get a warrant and find further info as to who is making the calls.

“Why should anyone have to get only one side of an issue?

“If you want the whole story, try turning on Fox News.  It reports both sides and lets you decide.

“Try it.”

[RWC] As I noted above, I believe folks like Mr. McKenzie don’t want to hear the whole story.

“You might find out you like to make up your own mind.”

[RWC] Does anyone care to guess how many letters we’ll read in the following week or so bashing FNC, “conservative” talk radio, and any other news outlet that’s not part of the mainstream media?
