Bitter; Robert Mecchia; Beaver County Times; April 16, 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“This has nothing to do with picking a candidate for president.

“Politicians are promising the world with no chance of keeping those promises.  If they were able to fund every project that they promised, Tax Freedom Day would come on Dec. 31 every year or later.

“They lie to your face and won’t even admit it, only say they made a mistake.  They spend our tax dollars like there is no tomorrow.  Every day, a politician somewhere is involved in a scandal either of a moral nature or fraud.”

[RWC] Mr. Mecchia is doing OK so far, but he runs off the tracks in the next paragraph.

“There is no longer a middle class.  You’re either rich or poor.  Most people who have worked hard all their lives can no longer live off retirement checks and are forced back to work.”

[RWC] “You’re either rich or poor?”  I’m not much into the class thing, but the idea that “[y]ou’re either rich or poor” is BS.

“When the people band together against something our politicians are doing, they go ahead and do it anyway, regardless what the people want.”

[RWC] There are exceptions.  Though many politicians wanted amnesty for illegal aliens, including our current president and the three leading candidates for president, the people didn’t want amnesty for illegal aliens and the politicians felt forced to kill it, at least for now.

“Am I bitter?  You betcha.”

[RWC] Don’t give others the power to make you bitter.
