Jerry Miskulin – 11/8/04

Bush’s election a good thing; Jerry Miskulin; Beaver County Times; November 8, 2004.

In summary, this letter is a temper tantrum.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“To my fellow Democrats I say the election of George W. Bush for a second term of President is the best thing that could’ve happened given the circumstances.

“Without control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, any attempt at large-scale deficit reductions would be next to impossible.”

[RWC] I guess Mr. Miskulin didn’t pay attention to Kerry’s campaign promises.  Total all of his programs, and deficit reduction was the last thing on Kerry’s mind.  Democrats – as many Republicans, unfortunately – only care about deficits when they believe they can pin the blame on the other party.

“Let’s face it.  The country is in bad economic shape as we keep borrowing money to maintain our so-called prosperity.  We have a tendency to believe that money grows on trees while more and more of us are being knocked to our knees.”

[RWC] Another socialist in denial.  The only place in which the U.S. economy “is in bad economic shape” is in the Democrat party talking points document.

“I’ve learned a lot from our president, especially how to make something out of nothing.

“As the hawks who run this country start looking for carrion, they should remember a quote made by Churchill that I will paraphrase.  He said the United States and Britain are here not to dominate the world, mind you, but to save it.”

[RWC] Here’s the quote.  “I am sure Great Britain does not want to dominate the world.  So one is removed from suspicion.  I am sure the United States does not wish to do so, so another is excluded from the powers having intentions to dominate the world.”

The problem, Mr. Miskulin, is that Winston Churchill didn’t make this statement.  Who did?  Joseph Stalin.  Stalin made this statement at the Yalta Conference in early 1945.  We shouldn’t be surprised when liberals quote communists.

“The United States has never been a catalyst but a court of last resort.”

[RWC] Huh?
