‘It’s a sin because it’s all spin’; Jerry Miskulin; Beaver County Times; October 20, 2006.

Mr. Miskulin has been a busy little beaver as of late.  This is his sixth letter since early August and his third in 10 days.  As usual, all were President Bush and/or Republican-bashing rants.  In his letter of 10 days ago, Mr. Miskulin told us the Chicago Eight were “patriotic.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The only thing the Republican Party cares about is the Republican Party.

“They are no longer patriotic because the country doesn’t matter except as to how it serves them.

“The budget deficit doesn’t bother them because they’re benefiting from the tax cuts.  And the future?  Hey, it might be a Democratic future.  The war has served them as a rallying point, and business has profited by it.

[RWC] Regarding the budget deficit, other than when a Republican is in office, when have liberals ever cared about budget deficits?  Since the early 1930s, Democrats have presided over far more deficits than Republicans.  Remember, Democrat control of Congress was nearly total for over 60 years.

Believe Mr. Miskulin, and the reason many in the GOP support our action in Iraq is for political and business reasons.  Nothing like mud slinging, eh Mr. Miskulin?

“All that really matters to the GOP is politics and getting re-elected.  The only history Karl Rove cares about is what he writes, and I tell you it’s a sin because it’s all spin.”

[RWC] If “[a]ll that really matters to the GOP is politics and getting re-elected,” show me how the Democrat Party is different.

Regarding the last sentence, I conclude with what happens far too often with Mr. Miskulin’s letters.  Huh?
