A top ten candidate; James Nagy; Beaver County Times; January 18, 2006.

An editor’s note says, “Georgia Berner is seeking the Democratic nomination in the 4th Congressional District.”

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The Top Ten reason [sic] to vote for Georgia Berner:

“10. Ray Charles sang about her.”

[RWC] Uh, yeah, sure.

“9. She’s been ethical while only God was watching.”

[RWC] This cannot be true.  As we all know, business owners are evil individuals building their wealth on the backs of oppressed workers. <g>

Did you ever notice how Democrats bash business owners and military men, until they run as Democrats?

“8. She has experience creating new jobs in our district.”

[RWC] This cannot be true.  According to Democrats, our economy is at its worst since the Great Depression. <g>

“7. She questions the wisdom of having free trade at any cost.”

[RWC] Translation: Ms. Berner supports free trade for the industries supplying products and services needed for her company to make its products.  Ms. Berner likely opposes free trade for her industry.  In fairness, this is the position of most business owners regardless of their political leaning.

“6. She doesn’t think Iraq is our 51st state.”

[RWC] Ms. Berner agrees with President Bush.

“5. Did I mention she’s created jobs?

“4. She cares about catching bin Laden.”

[RWC] Again Ms. Berner agrees with President Bush, but apparently not with Bill Clinton who turned down bin Laden when he was offered by the Sudanese government in 1996.

“3. She doesn’t get Iraq and 9-11 confused.”

[RWC] Again Ms. Berner agrees with President Bush.

“2. She knows universal heath care will keep more jobs at home.”

[RWC] If Ms. Berger “knows” taxpayer funded healthcare “will keep more jobs at home,” it’s hard to believe she is a successful businesswoman.

“1. She’s not a lawyer.”

[RWC] I don’t know where Mr. Nagy got his input for this letter.  Ms. Berger’s campaign website mentions almost nothing of her positions on anything.  The only topic mentioned (Socialist Security) was referenced in a linked page, and Ms. Berger’s view of proposed changes was either misinformed or she lied.  Most of the website currently is dedicated to telling us how good a businesswoman Ms. Berger is/was.
