Election was about problems, not race; Roger Nanni; Beaver County Times; November 7, 2008.

For the second time the Times failed to note Mr. Nanni is chairman of the Leetsdale Democrat committee.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“On Tuesday, we did not elect our first black president; we elected our first president who was black.”

[RWC] This is true.  In 1998, lefty author Toni Morrison referred to then-President Clinton as “our first black president.  Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”  For those who care, Ms. Morrison is black.

“The difference, which may seem to be semantics, is perhaps the most significant outcome of the election.

“While for some this election was black and white, for many it was about our problems as a nation and how we can solve those problems.”

[RWC] According to Politico.com, “Fully 96 percent of black voters supported Obama and constituted 13 percent of the electorate.”  You’ll also recall we were routinely told in effect that a vote for anyone but Mr. Obama was the result of racism.

“The black population in America is less than 13 percent, but the true minorities today are those who can’t see past our differences.  We didn’t solve the race issue with this election, but I think we did show we’ve grown and can keep it in perspective.”

[RWC] “The true minorities today are those who can’t see past our differences?”  This is a hoot coming from a political operative whose party is fixated on placing people in “victim” groups as both a strategy and a tactic.
