Rothfus refuses to explain his vote on health care; Cassie Narkevic (CN); Beaver County Times; June 6, 2017.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“On May 4, U.S. Rep. Keith Rothfus, R-12, Sewickley, voted for the horrendously unpopular American Health Care Act, H.R. 1628, which would cause 23 million Americans to lose health insurance.”

[RWC] CN and I don’t like AHCA for vastly different reasons.  CN apparently believes in government medical care and I do not.  As far as I can tell, Republicancare (AHCA) is Obamacare with a bunch of amendments.

A free market represents the best approach to providing the best combination of healthcare accessibility, choice, price, quality, timeliness of treatment, et cetera.  I also believe citizens cannot be dependent on their government for medical needs and remain free.  No approach – either private or public – is perfect and some people won’t be able to afford healthcare or healthcare insurance no matter how inexpensive it is.  Do I believe people who need help because of unforeseen circumstances should get it?  Of course, but via private charities funded by voluntary contributions.

Please read my paper “Healthcare.”

“About 55,000 people in our district have coverage through the Affordable Care Act or Medicaid expansion.  They could lose their coverage if this bill became law.  To this day, Rothfus refuses to hold a public town hall to answer to his constituents.”

[RWC] Lefty activists have been using these meetings to ambush reps/sens with opposition mobs.

“His most recent email newsletter bragged that he supports bills to help children.  If Rothfus really supported children, he would not have voted for the AHCA, which would kick over 5,000 children in our district off Medicaid, according to statistics from the Center for American Progress.  By slashing Medicaid funding and radically cutting ACA tax credits, the American Health Care Act puts our health at risk.”

[RWC] The Center for American Progress is a leftist think tank.  According to Wikipedia, “The president and chief executive officer of CAP is Neera Tanden, who worked for the Obama and Clinton administrations and for Hillary Clinton’s campaigns.  The first president and CEO was John Podesta, who has served as White House Chief of Staff to U.S. President Bill Clinton and as the chairman of the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton.  Podesta remained with the organization as chairman of the board until he joined the Obama White House staff in December 2013.”

“Rothfus voted against kids and families.  Now he hides from his constituents.  Several Democrats who will protect the ACA and Medicaid are running for the 12th Congressional District seat in 2018.  If you truly support kids and families, register to vote now so you can support a Democrat in 2018.  You can register online at www.pavoterservices.pa.gov.”

[RWC] You probably noticed CN wrote nothing about those who would shoulder the financial burden of her generosity.  There aren’t enough “rich” people to pay for everything even if they were taxed 100%, which could be done only once.  How many self-sufficient families will become “struggling” or worse because government will take a bigger chunk of their pay and pension checks?
