‘Let he who is without sin …’; Shirley Newman; Beaver County Times; January 3, 2005.

Ms. Newman’s letter is a rant.  My guess is that Ms. Newman hopes you never read Mr. Stolz’s letter because she completely misrepresents the Stolz letter.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Yes, Forrest Stolz, you won (‘Politically incorrect? Yes,’ Wednesday).

“You and everyone else that voted for George Bush - the cowardly draft dodger that he is, who didn’t have the bravery or the guts to fight a physical war - has no problem sending others to do what he had the pull and backing to get himself out of.

[RWC] You can tell Ms. Newman has nothing to support her position because she immediately engages in name-calling.  I didn’t know flying fighter jets in the National Guard and volunteering for service in Vietnam is considered cowardly.

“I truly believe that God’s chosen people are the misfits in this world.  God made all of us, even misfits.  God makes no mistake which means he made us the way we are.  He will be the one who decides who will enter heaven.

“And if you believe in what Jesus taught, you would not put down the underlings in this world.”

[RWC] I’m not sure what letter Ms. Newman is referring to, but I have a hard time believing it is the one she mentioned at the beginning of her letter.  In his five-sentence letter, Mr. Stolz not once refers to anything remotely related to “misfits” and “underlings.”  You’ll note it is this defender of “left-wing loony liberals,” Ms. Newman, who refers to some people as infidels, misfits, and underlings.

“Jesus said those who are without sin should cast the first stone.  Because Mr. Stolz casts stones as big as the boulders in the Shakespeare Restaurant, he has to be without sin.

“I, myself, would rather be one of God’s infidels.  He can judge me, not Forrest Stolz, a man without sin.”

[RWC] Mr. Stolz simply said “left-wing loony liberals” refer to him as a “right-wing conservative radical” and “politically incorrect.”  This is casting stones?  Just read and watch the old “news” media and you’ll find Mr. Stolz is correct in this assessment.  Also, Mr. Stolz didn’t judge anyone in his letter.

I believe Ms. Newman is simply angry that someone described some liberal beliefs.  I find it odd that liberals hate it when someone exposes their positions.
