Spending priorities are out of kilter; Betty Noyh; Beaver County Times; December 13, 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I’m just asking, but...

“A useless roundabout in Rochester - approximately $2 million.

“Closing of Old Economy Village?  Priceless.

“What’s wrong with this picture?”

[RWC] Ms. Noyh appears to forget we pay state taxes of $0.312/gallon for gasoline and $0.381/gallon for diesel specifically for our roads.  We also pay federal fuel taxes of $0.184/gallon and $0.244/gallon for gasoline and diesel, respectively.  Finally, I’m probably not going out on a limb to assume a lot more people would benefit from hopefully better traffic flow in Rochester than from Old Economy Village.  I’m not criticizing OEV, just pointing out a lot more people travel through the Rochester intersection than visit OEV.
