Missing the point; Stan Olash; Beaver County Times; June 5, 2011.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Regarding Stephen Kislock’s  Wednesday rant on June 1 (‘Still waiting for justice’) about U.S. diplomat Nelson Milstrand being fired by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for making a valid point against Israel as reported in The Onion News, will someone please inform him that Onion News is meant to be a parody of the news.

“Everything it reports is meant to be taken as a joke.

“Unlike Fox News, The Onion admits that everything it reports is fiction meant to inflame the gullible and uninformed.”

[RWC] Assuming this Stan Olash from Ohioville is the Stanley Olash, Jr., from Ohioville who wrote “A warning to Beck and Hannity fans” (8/16/09), he appears to be another lefty with a thing about the Fox News Channel (FNC).  You’ll note the Kislock letter didn’t involve FNC yet Mr. Olash bashed FNC and its viewers anyway.  In the previous letter (no longer on the BCT website), Mr. Olash implied “the rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck followers” were “mentally handicapped.”  In this letter, Mr. Olash implies FNC viewers are “gullible and uninformed.”  It would be interesting to learn the news sources Mr. Olash considers credible.

What got Mr. Olash wound up in his previous letter was the claim of “death panels” in what would become to be known as Obamacare.  Mr. Olash, however, apparently has no problem with the Democrat National Committee ad that shows a man representing U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) pushing an elderly woman in a wheelchair over a cliff.

“When you have only one mindset, you will believe anything that reinforces that mindset.  How very sad.”

[RWC] Is Mr. Olash referring to Mr. Kislock or himself?
