Specter right to back climate bill; Susan Parker; Beaver County Times; December 23, 2009.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“I hope that U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter’s vote in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to support climate legislation is a signal of his commitment to making sure that legislation to deal with our serious economic and environmental problems can move through the Senate with its integrity intact.

“Our state and our nation need strong, swift action that results in a cap on carbon, a national requirement for generating at least 25 percent of our electricity from clean, renewable sources and a standard that makes saving energy the norm.”

[RWC] Note Ms. Parker never tells us why or the information sources she used to come to this conclusion.

“No invented controversy, past or present, has changed the overwhelming scientific consensus that we need to act decisively and quickly - especially right now, when the world is watching and looking to us for leadership.”

[RWC] I guess folks like Ms. Parker believe if they claim “overwhelming scientific consensus that we need to act decisively and quickly” long enough and loud enough, it must be true.  Please read my paper “Manmade Global Warming.”

“I am looking forward to Specter’s continued support of this issue moving forward.”
