The party of hypocrisy; Jerry Pearl; Beaver County Times; October 16, 2006.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“The political party of self-proclaimed family values has unveiled its latest October surprise, which was illuminated upon the neo-con emperors who have no clothes to drape around their hypocrisies.”

[RWC] You will find Mr. Pearl never tells us what the “latest October surprise” is.

I wonder if Mr. Pearl actually knows what a so-called neocon is.

“To support state Rep. Mark Mustio, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy and U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum would further their beliefs that our representatives don’t require honest and moral family values in order to hold political office.

“In Mustio’s case, hypocrisy is acceptable and righteous.  It is perfectly fine to vote for and accept a pay raise, while later rejecting it.  He then claimed he had no idea that part of it would go toward his benefits.”

[RWC] You’ll note Mr. Pearl doesn’t appear to have a problem with Democrats who voted for the payjacking.

Here’s a different opinion from the Bridgeville Area News.

“And for Murphy and Santorum to loudly blow Bush’s war bugle, which was consciously based upon pre-2000 planning, lies, and the manipulation of raw intelligence, while at the same time fueling the flames of wildly fanatical Islamists around the world, has increased the danger factor.”

[RWC] Mr. Pearl appears to forget the Iraq War Resolution received broad bipartisan support.  Remember, 39% of House Democrats voted for the resolution, as did 58% of Senate Democrats, including Democrat darlings Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and John Murtha.

When folks like Mr. Pearl rattle off statements like the war “was consciously based upon pre-2000 planning, lies, and the manipulation of raw intelligence,” I wish they’d show us the courtesy of providing credible evidence.  To date, every pre-war intelligence post mortem has concluded there was neither “manipulation of raw intelligence” or misrepresentation of the intelligence.  If Mr. Pearl can provide evidence to the contrary, it’s his duty to do so.

“[P]re-2000 planning?”  Does Mr. Pearl actually expect us to believe George Bush was planning to attack Iraq while he was still governor of Texas and before the 2000 presidential campaign began?  Where do people come up with this stuff?

“[I]ncreased the danger factor?”  Did Mr. Pearl miss the attacks on the U.S. – both here and abroad – from 1993 to September 11, 2001?

“Plus, Santorum’s grieving moment with Terri Schiavo’s parents, with one arm around their shoulders and his other grabbing for fresh campaign contributions, was all disgusting and hypocritical.”

[RWC] Man, Mr. Pearl must be desperate.  How can you bash someone trying to help a family keep their disabled daughter alive?
