McCain knows how to get bin Laden?; Dorothy Pollock; Beaver County Times; October 19, 2008.

Below is a detailed critique of the subject letter.

“Listening to the presidential debates and numerous rally speeches, Sen. John McCain has repeatedly stated, ‘I know how to get Osama bin Laden.’

“If, in fact, he does know how to get bin Laden, why hasn’t he shared this important plan with President Bush and Gen. David Petraeus?

“It also begs the questions, when did he know this information and what credible source furnished him this information but did not share it with the highest levels of government?”

[RWC] How does Ms. Pollock know Mr. McCain didn’t share “this important plan with President Bush and Gen. David Petraeus” and his ideas “with the highest levels of government?”  After all, we know Mr. McCain lobbied for the surge in Iraq that’s proven successful so far.

Does Mr. McCain have an as yet untried strategy to capture/kill bin Laden?  I don’t know, but just because Mr. McCain hasn’t laid out the details on the front page of a newspaper for the enemy to see doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a proposal or that he didn’t discuss it with the appropriate people.

“His ‘secret plan’ would have saved many, many lives and billions of dollars.  Bin Laden should have been the top priority after the Sept. 11, 2001, for McCain.

“Does he really mean ‘Country First,’ or is this more for his own political recognition?”

[RWC] You may recall John Kerry claimed to have a plan for success in Iraq during the 2004 campaign and to date it has not been made public.  I checked my records and found no letters from Ms. Pollock questioning Mr. Kerry’s motives.
